Built by an executive coach who got tired of guessing

Making Yourself Clear was built by Chris Iskander, a practicing executive and team coach — and a former product manager and technology leader — out of a problem he kept running into in his own coaching work.

Chris Iskander, founder of Making Yourself Clear

The problem that started it. Chris coaches highly intelligent, successful professionals, many of whom have been told their communication is holding back their next step. The cruel irony: the feedback they receive is usually as vague as the communication it’s critiquing. “Be clearer.” “Be more strategic.” “Work on your presence.” They leave with a label and no idea what to actually do differently on Monday.

And as a coach, Chris could only ever observe his clients secondhand — through what they recounted in a session. What he really wanted was to be a fly on the wall in their actual meetings: to hear how they framed the purpose, whether they closed the decision, how well they listened, who they brought in and who they talked over. That’s where the precise, usable feedback lives — and it was the one thing he couldn’t see.

Then the lightbulb: modern language models, given the right structure, prompting, and a rigorous coaching framework, could turn a real transcript into specific, evidence-grounded coaching. He wanted evidence, not recollection — so he built it.

What the product believes. A few convictions are built into every analysis: evidence over vibes — nothing is scored without a quote to ground it. One useful next step beats a long list of flaws. Your data and your choices come first — you decide what to upload and you can see what was sent. And it’s coaching, not surveillance: a private read meant to help you, never a record meant to judge you.

Why his background matters here. Chris spent over 13 years at a high-growth, mission-critical tech startup that scaled from a 12-person team to a 300-plus-person global organization and a successful exit. He worked across DevOps, product management, sales, customer success, and international project management — developing processes, leading Agile transformations, navigating two mergers and a major restructuring. He speaks the language of the leaders he coaches, and he knows what a real working meeting actually demands.

He’s also a credentialed executive and team coach, trained through the College of Executive Coaching, the Center for Executive Coaching, Newfield Network, and the International Coaching Federation (ICF). His clients have ranged from high-potential employees and executives at Fortune 500 companies to founders and C-suite leaders in the startup world.

A quick word on the name. The product is Making Yourself Clear — Myc for short, pronounced “mic.” It’s a small double meaning we couldn’t resist: the logo is a monogram where the Y is a microphone stand, a nod to the spoken, in-the-room moments Myc was built to analyze — and to the whole point of the thing, which is making yourself clear when it counts.

Making Yourself Clear is that coaching expertise, made available to far more people than 1:1 work can ever reach — leadership development from your real meetings, grounded in real practice, not a generic AI wrapper.
